The Riverside County Superior Court is pleased to announce that on July 1, 2021, the court will transition to electronic filing (eFiling) for unlimited, limited, complex civil, unlawful detainers and small claims cases.

Beginning 12:00 a.m. on July 1, 2021, all new electronic case filings in unlimited, limited, complex civil, unlawful detainers and small claims cases may be submitted via eFiling.

The Court’s eSubmit Electronic Document Portal will remain available for parties to electronically delivery documents in family law, probate, criminal and traffic cases.

Electronic filing (eFiling) for unlimited, limited, complex civil, unlawful detainers and small claims cases will start as optional with the anticipation of eFiling being mandated for attorneys and represented parties effective September 1, 2021, unless there is an exemption. Pursuant to California Rules of Court, rule 2.253(b)(2), self-represented litigants will be exempt from mandatory electronic filing requirements.

eFiling differs from the eSubmit Electronic Document Portal in that parties can select any approved Electronic Filing Service Provider (EFSP) to submit their filings. In eFiling, the party will submit documents in PDF format and after a document is submitted, a confirmation email will be sent to the submitting party. Additional notifications will be sent upon the filing or rejection of the document(s).
The Electronic Filing Manager (EFM), Journal Technologies Inc. (JTI), is actively certifying Electronic Filing Service Providers (EFSPs). Additional information, including the Court’s General Order on eFiling, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and a list of approved EFSPs will be available on the Court’s website in the coming weeks.
