Electronic Filing Service Providers (EFSPs) are an intermediary through which litigators can electronically file (E-File) their documents with the court. Of the California Superior Courts that accept E-Filing, most require the filing party to use a court-approved EFSP. While there are several EFSPs in the state of California, they offer varying degrees of expertise, customer support, service offerings and technological clarity. When choosing an EFSP, there are several questions to consider:

Is it User-Friendly?

EFSPs are preferred by the courts because they supposedly simplify a complex and constantly evolving procedure.  To that end, your EFSP’s platform should be user-friendly with clear, concise directions at each step of the E-Filing process.

What are their Service Offerings?

For those new to E-Filing or unsure of a specific court’s E-Filing requirements, some EFSPs offer expert review and concierge services as an added protection to guarantee your filing is accepted. If you’re looking to streamline your order management, certain EFSPs also offer traditional attorney support in the form of process serving and physical court filing services.

How is their Customer Support?

Like any attorney service provider, your EFSP should be in constant contact with you regarding the status of your orders. They should also readily available to respond to your on-demand needs and answer your questions.
