The time has finally arrived! The Los Angeles Superior Court will soon begin implementing electronic filing (eFiling) of all documents filed in the Civil Division.

To facilitate the transition, the Civil Division will accept electronic filings as of the voluntary dates shown below for each civil category, beginning one month prior to the implementation of mandatory eFiling.

During the voluntary phase, documents may be presented for filing at the clerk’s office or may be submitted electronically. Attorneys must eFile documents as of the dates marked as mandatory.

The implementation schedule for civil eFiling is as follows:

Case Type Date
Limited – voluntary November 13, 2018
Limited – mandatory December 3, 2018
Unlimited – voluntary December 3, 2018
Complex – mandatory December 3, 2018
Unlimited (non-complex) – mandatory January 2, 2019

In addition, we would like to alert you that a public meeting to provide information regarding electronic filing is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel, 251 S. Olive Street, Los Angeles 90012, in the Bunker Hill Ballroom. Immediately following the presentation, the electronic filing service providers will be available to answer questions.
